The following topics will be addressed in TOPCOMBI:
- The Integrated Project TOPCOMBI aims at developing alternative catalytic synthesis routes answering demands in chemical production by applying high throughput and miniaturization methodologies. The IP will focus on topics stemming from European citizens' urging needs for efficient use of sustainable energy and resources, safe chemical products and environmental protection. TOPCOMBI mainly aims to:
- find new processes to convert light alkanes into valuable chemicals/transportable feedstocks,
- develop cleaner, safer and cheaper routes in bulk chemical processes by developing new eco-efficient catalysts and avoiding hazardous routes or extensive solvent use: NOx abatement in nitric acid plants and replacement of toxic phosgene in the synthesis of polycarbonates, isocyanates and polyurethanes,
- develop processes to synthesize high added value products based on green chemistry for up-grading new bio-feedstocks like glycerol,
- develop an EU technological toolbox around combinatorial methodology and harmonise the common e-languages and e-infrastructure,
- support European chemical education and industry: high impact development and enhanced competitiveness,
- pave access to fundamental knowledge by mining large data sets and disseminating results.
